frame workshop

at Swiss Cottage Gallery as part of the

Annual Open Open Exhibition

Swiss Cottage Gallery hosts an open exhibtion each year; the Open Open there are three hanging days over 3 weeks where participants can bring work to be exhibited. There is no selection process, other than the works maximum dimension must be under one metre.

Alongside this I have been asked to develop family workshops, in 2015 I used frame as a starting point. What I am most concerned by with the work is that the young people and children who attend are given equal stature in the gallery, not just for the one day but throughout the exhibition. Wall space was dedicated to the results of the frame workshop where drawings could be left or traced onto the wall.

In 2016 I had the same goal of creating ownership and legitamacy in the gallery space for the young people. This was manifest in the occupation of the space through den building, creating a space within the gallery space that sits alongside the exhibtion to be added to and utilised throughout August. See more ffrom the den making workshop here
